Getting to Skopelos: A Travel Guide for Wedding Guests

Skopelos has no airport, which is part of why it still feels the way it does. Every guest arrives by sea, so the trip takes a little planning. Here is how it works.

    Via Skiathos

Skiathos, the neighbouring island, has an airport, with flights from Athens and, in summer, international flights from around Europe. From Skiathos, ferries cross to Skopelos.

    Via the mainland

Ferries to Skopelos also leave from the mainland. The usual departures are Volos, Mantoudi on Evia, and Thessaloniki. The crossing from Thessaloniki takes about six hours.

    Skopelos has two ports

Ferries call at Skopelos Town and at Glossa (Loutraki), on the other side of the island. The Castello and Vrachos are both in Skopelos Town, so check which port a ferry arrives at before booking.

    Before your guests book

    • Ferry timetables change between seasons, so check the current timetable before booking flights.
    • Leave room between landing and the last ferry of the day, rather than planning to the minute.
    • It is best to be here at least two or three days before the wedding.

What we help with, and what we don't

Tell us where your guests are flying from and we will suggest the best route across. Tickets are booked by guests themselves, and if they need it, we put them in touch with partners we trust, so nobody is dealing with complete strangers at any point of the trip. Once they are on the island, transfers around it are arranged by us and run by licensed local partners, and we advise on where to stay through the largest network of places to stay on Skopelos. The booking itself stays with your guests.

Ask us about your guests' route and we will help you work it out.

    Let's plan your wedding

Tell us your dates and your vision — we'll answer honestly about what's possible.
