Vrachos: Above the Port of Skopelos Since 1992

Long before it hosted weddings, Vrachos was already a Skopelos institution. The bar opened its doors in July 1992 (vrachosbar.com), on the rock that gives the area its name — vrachos means "rock" in Greek — 108 steps above the old port of Skopelos Town. The steps begin beside the town hall. The bar has been in our family since 2016, and the climb is still worth it.
A meeting place before it was a bar
People met on this rock long before there was a bar on it. It once ran all the way down to the sea and divided the town beach in two, and you can still pick it out from the sand. The old photographs in our archive are of a place that was already a gathering point, before anyone had thought of opening a business there.
What the place is about
Quality coffee in the daytime, cocktails made with fresh fruit at night, and the homemade lemonade and limoncello we prepare every day. Local guides describe Vrachos as "an iconic balcony bar" with a view of the port that "literally takes your breath away" (skopelos.com). Guests seem to agree: Vrachos holds a 4.6-star rating on Google from more than 1,400 reviews.
From evening drinks to evening vows
Anyone who has been on our terrace as the light turns understands why couples started asking to be married here. The 150-square-metre terrace looks out over 240 degrees of open Aegean — the harbour on one side, the horizon on the other — and as evening falls, the whole town glows below. Today Vrachos hosts wedding ceremonies and receptions for up to 200 guests, with the same bar team behind the cocktails that made the place famous.
What a Vrachos wedding feels like
- The ceremony: in the evening light on the terrace, with the sea behind you.
- The cocktails: the full Vrachos bar — fresh-fruit signatures, homemade limoncello, and a toast as the light turns.
- The party: dancing above the harbour lights, in a spot your guests will already have fallen in love with during their stay.
A place that has stood on the same rock since 1992 teaches you what matters: honest drinks, warm service, and never getting between people and that view. If you'd like your wedding to feel like that, read more about Vrachos as a wedding venue or get in touch.
